Meet Nicole "Coley"! She is soft, cuddly, and very affectionate. And she is VERY intelligent. Her medical records indicate that she is a "Terrier Mix". Coley was rescued from a high kill shelter in Bartow County, where she was scheduled to be euthanized on Tuesday. We heard about this beautiful girl with the sweetest temperament, and knew we had to help! She is now at our shelter in NH, looking for her forever family. She's confident, and absolutely wonderful with humans of all ages, and she's friendly toward other dogs. Coley is about 12 months old, and she's SMALL for her breed weighing only 31 lbs. She is spayed, has all her required vaccines, and is microchipped. . Tango .

Meet Tango! His photos don't do him justice... and just look at THOSE EYES!!! Tango was at high risk of losing his life due to space restrictions at the shelter where he was staying, but we could NOT let that happen! He is now here at our shelter in Weare, NH, and very anxious to find his forever family. This lovely boy, has playful, puppy-like behavior. With his remarkable intelligence and wonderful temperament, he is very obedient. He walks well on a leash, but he needs someone strong to walk him as he does pull at times. He takes corrections really well, and NEVER jumps up on people. Here's what Tango has to say... "My name is Tango and I’ve been here in a shelter forever. Well, not really, but it seems that way. I don’t really know much about time, but they tell me it was October, which means I’ve been without a family for nearly five months. Is that a long time? It feels like it to me, even though the people here are really nice to me. I love it when they come to take me for a walk. I get so excited because I get to see people. They’re my favorite thing. I’m happy to be around other dogs, too. They say I’m a very strong boy, but I’m mostly a playful guy. I love to play fetch. I’m still just a pup, barely 13 months old, but I’m a big boy, too, weighing 80 lbs. I’m getting better at walking on a leash, but I need a strong and patient hand to help me be the best dog I can be. Everyone here tells me I’m very handsome and muscular, and one of my favorite friends here at the shelter says that sometimes when I move, I look like a mountain lion. But underneath, I’m really just a pussycat who wants to be cherished like every good boy should. My outside is caramel-colored velvet and golden eyes, but on the inside my heart is full of love. I’ve seen two seasons from the inside of this shelter, but I know the next one is the best. Now that Spring is here, I'm excited to be in NH, and I hope I get a brand new life." Tango is young and strong, and will need a family who can handle a large dog, as well as training, since he hasn't had a real family since he was a puppy. Meet Marcus! While all of our dogs are special, well Marcus, he's just EXTRA special! Marcus was the inspiration for the formation of Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance, and he is an exemplary representation of all the satos (street dogs) of Puerto Rico, who are just looking for some kindness as they battle the misfortune that life has bestowed upon them. He is one of the sweetest, most intelligent dogs we’ve had the pleasure to know, and we’re thrilled to share him with the perfect family for him. He is an eager student and has learned all of his basic commands and manners, and he walks perfectly on a leash. His clownish mannerisms will make you laugh until you cry, as he wants nothing more than to please the people who love him. Marcus is a very healthy, happy boy who would love to find his forever family! He is fantastic with other dogs who are medium to large in size, and needs to be in a home without cats. Marcus is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. He is about 3 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. If you are interested in adopting this beautiful, wonderful, special boy, please complete an application on our website at https://www.heartsandtails.org/adoption-application/. Once you have completed the application, please contact your veterinarian and give us permission to speak with them for a reference.
