Meet Luke! He is intelligent, cuddly, and and so very happy to be alive! Luke was rescued from a high kill shelter in Bartow County, where he was scheduled to be euthanized on Tuesday. He was picked up by their animal control, and it looks like he faced some hard times... starving and alone, this poor sweet boy was likely hoping that the people who finally picked him up would love him and welcome him into their home. Sadly, it was animal control who took him off the street, and unless someone rescued him, Luke's prospects were empty and dire. We heard about this beautiful boy with the sweetest temperament, and knew we had to help! He is now at our shelter in Weare, NH, looking for his forever family. He's super smart, and absolutely wonderful with humans of all ages, and he's friendly toward other dogs. Luke is about 1 year old, and weighs about 50 lbs, which is his adult weight. Meet Timmy! THOSE EYES! His photos don't do him justice! He has the softest fur, and he is a wonderful, gentle soul. This beautiful boy was rescued as a tiny pup to our vet in Puerto Rico along with his momma and sister. They had been left in an abandoned house with no food our water. Well, our vet has a HUGE heart, and has been raising this little family for the last 9 months. He decided to keep the momma, and was sad to let the pups go, but he knew that they could have a better life with families in the northeast. So he contacted Hearts and Tails, and asked us to help. Needless to say, we acted quickly and they are now happy at our shelter in Weare, NH, and anxious to find their forever families. Timmy is confident, intelligent, and friendly toward humans, other dogs, and cats! Timmy is now 11 months old, and weighs 46 lbs, his perfect adult weight. Meet Stephen! This mega-sweet, fun, goofy guy is looking for his forever family! He walks very well on a leash, and he is eager to please his people. He was found wandering the streets in Bartow County, GA, and brought to Animal Control, where he was given just a few days to live. In that facility, all dogs are euthanized on a weekly basis unless a rescue organization agrees to "pull" them, and give them a second chance at life. When we saw this beautiful boy, and learned of his dire predicament, we knew we had to take action. Although Stephen's story is a very sad one thus far, he takes it all in stride and greets everyone he meets with enthusiastic joy! We intend to make sure that he gets the "happily-ever-after" that he deserves! Stephen is about 9 months old, and weighs about 48 lbs. Not only does he have a wonderful temperament; he is also extremely intelligent. He likes other dogs, and he's SUPER affectionate with people. Stephen has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Meet Marcus! While all of our dogs are special, well Marcus, he's just EXTRA special! Marcus was the inspiration for the formation of Hearts and Tails Animal Alliance, and he is an exemplary representation of all the satos (street dogs) of Puerto Rico, who are just looking for some kindness as they battle the misfortune that life has bestowed upon them. He is one of the sweetest, most intelligent dogs we’ve had the pleasure to know, and we’re thrilled to share him with the perfect family for him. He is an eager student and has learned all of his basic commands and manners, and he walks perfectly on a leash. His clownish mannerisms will make you laugh until you cry, as he wants nothing more than to please the people who love him. Marcus is a very healthy, happy boy who would love to find his forever family! He is fantastic with other dogs who are medium to large in size, and needs to be in a home without cats. Marcus is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. He is about 3 years old and weighs about 60 lbs.
